It’s time for spring cleaning, and this year we have you covered. CPBA is organizing a neighborhood-wide Yard Sale on June 1, 2019. Here’s how it will work:
The Sale will take place June 1 from 9am to 2pm. This overlaps with the weekly Saturday Farmers Market, so we hope to get lots of people walking through the neighborhood, to your home for the sale, and to Connecticut Avenue for the market.
Every participating house will receive a yard sign announcing that they are participating in the sale. A community-wide map will highlight every participating home, and we will promote the sale via social media, neighborhood posters, ads, and calendar listings. We’ll also provide the promotional graphic so you can promote the event to your own networks on social media, and to your friends and family.
All YOU have to do is sign up and pay $20 for your sign and to support our publicity efforts and the creation of the master Sale map. The deadline to be included in the map is May 10.
Around May 24 we will email you to let you know where and when you can pick up your sign to place in your yard. Please pick up your sign, so passers-by will know your IN and shoppers will know they are at a house participating in the Sale.
Then, on June 1 by 9am just pull your wares out to your front yard, porch, or driveway and sell, sell, sell! The Sale will go on rain or shine, so please have a rain plan for your items if the weather does not cooperate–tarps, porches, umbrellas.
You must live in Cleveland Park to participate, since we’re promoting and supporting Cleveland Park!
Do you live in an apartment building? Talk with your building management to confirm that it is ok with signs in the front of the building and directing participating tenants to set-up in a manageable location.
Finally, CPBA is contacting some area charitable organizations that accept donations to determine if one will come and pick up all unsold items from our participating homes. You can indicate on the sign-up sheet if you’d like that service if we are able to arrange it.
