Story Time Gala Cleveland Park Library

Story Time Gala at Cleveland Park Library

The DC Public Library Foundation (DCPLF) will host its fourth annual “Story Time” gala reception on Thursday, March 14 at 6:30 PM. The event, which benefits the D.C Library’s children’s programs, will take place in the new Cleveland Park Library, which will be transformed into a forest of knowledge and enchantment and a celebration of reading and STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) learning at the DC Public Library. Tickets are available here.

Working with the dedicated Friends of the Cleveland Park Library, as well as an organizing committee of Cleveland Park residents, DCPLF gala organizers have planned a delicious evening of food, drink and discovery, taking full creative  advantage of all that International Pi Day has to offer.

“I am honored to chair this beloved community event,” said Joy J. Dorsey, long time community leader, DCPLF Board member and Story Time Gala Chair. “Working closely with the Cleveland Park community, our numerous Friends groups, our wonderful events team, our generous sponsors and our Gala Committee, we are on track for a truly spectacular event and a special evening for all our guests. Your donations to the DCPLF will help ensure that the children of this City are given opportunities to read, learn and grow from the day they are born.”

Proceeds from the annual Story Time Gala Reception support the DC Public Library Foundation and the Library’s critical children’s programs that serve more than 25,000 children a month in every Ward throughout the District.

“Many people in Washington don’t realize the vital role that the DC Public Library Foundation plays in funding some of the DC Library’s most popular programs. Generous contributions to the DCPLF from local businesses, community organizations and every day citizens are vital to the success of programs like Sing, Talk and Read and Summer Challenge,” said DCPLF Board Co-Chair Marquett Smith.

“With stunning branch libraries like Cleveland Park and our newly modernized central MLK Library on track to reopen in 2020, we are building a public library system here in DC that will be the envy of the world, said Richard Reyes-Gavilan, Executive Director of the DC Public Library.  “We are profoundly grateful to the DC Public Library Foundation for its commitment to the lifelong learning needs of District residents.”

Individual tickets for the “Story Time” gala reception are $150 a person and can be purchased online at www.storytimegala.org. There is also a limited number of sponsorship opportunities remaining.
