The Sandlot plays at Cleveland Park's Uptown Theater

Classic Family Movies Return to the Uptown

The Uptown will resume its family weekend movie series this weekend, September 8 and 9 with showings both days of “The Sandlot.”

The source of such famous lines as “You’re killing me, Smalls,” The Sandlot is a baseball comedy that tweens will love, according to Common Sense Media.  Set during the early 1960s, it follows a new kid in town who makes friends by joining a local pick-up team. The main threat to the gang’s happiness is The Beast — a giant, slavering dog on the other side of the sandlot fence. Common Sense Media writes, “the movie has a sun-kissed, nostalgic tone that both kids and parents will appreciate.”
