In 2016, the Office of the Deputy Mayor for Planning and Economic Development (DMPED) funded a retail market analysis for Cleveland Park which was conducted by economic development consulting firm, Jon Stover & Associates (JS&A).
Through this study, JS&A worked with the Cleveland Park Business Association and other Cleveland Park stakeholders to assess the economic conditions along the corridor, understand recent and projected trends for the neighborhood, and develop strategies for creating a vibrant and sustainable retail atmosphere. JS&A then recommended business development opportunities that bolster the economic viability while preserving the current business ecosystem. In 2018, JS&A is implementing these retail enhancement strategies for Cleveland Park’s Connecticut Avenue. JS&A is working with the CPBA to bolster the organization’s capacity, develop an attraction and retention strategy to encourage retailers to locate and remain in Cleveland Park, and implement marketing strategies to target an increased customer base for the neighborhood.
